Recently, the State's DLNR/DOBOR pushed through a number of changes
that negatively affect Ala Wai Harbor live-aboard residents, boaters, and
reacreation users, and the community in general, such as:
- parking fee increased of 1500% ($20 early to $350 annual)
- guests parking (free to $1 hourly)
- 6 hour limit for the limited free parking spaces
- towing cars nightly after 10:30pm to 5:00am
- mooring fee 20% increase now, to an eventual 300% increase
Additionally, DLNR Director Thielen is attempting to push through the 2010
Legislature several new laws directly effected the Ala Wai Harbor, such as:
- Triple current live aboard fees (e.g., $300 to $900 monthly)
- Allow commercial boat operation at the Ala Wai / HB 2552

send a short statement about your the "facts" of your
complaint (not law) because their are attorneys on the
island looking for test cases to establish legal rights for
recreation boaters and harbor users. Send your info
